This procedure may seem lengthy, but it is actually easier to do than it is to read all this!
To get started on your web site:
1. Choose a small number of images to start with (say 10 - 20).
2. Sort them into sections (e.g. Portraits, Landscapes etc.) and a
sequence that suits you.
3. Create a new folder called "Website Images".
4. Create another folder called, "My Website"
5. In Photoshop create text images to use as Title images, Section
breaks and a Conclusion (See Jim and Phil's web sites in the Members' links
section.)
6. Give these images titles that sequence them appropriately in
your image collection (e.g. A00 Title, A01 Portraits, B01 Landscapes, etc.).
7. Rename each image using a number to sequence them in the way you
want along with a usefully identifying title that will appear on the web site.
It can be helpful to start each group of images with a different letter to
indicate which group it belongs to (e.g. A02 My Favourite Portrait; B02 My Best
Landscape, etc.).
8. Open each image using Photoshop (one at a time).
For each image:
9. Go to File/File Info
10. Using the top tab, which is Description, enter the image title in the
Title section.
11. Change the copyright status to copyrighted.
12. In the Description section add any words you would like your viewers
to be able to read about that particular image. E.g. How you took it, or why.
13. Go to the Origin tab.
14. In the Credit section briefly note any prizes that image has won
(this only takes a small number of letters).
Save that image and repeat this procedure with the next one until you are
finished.
When you have completed the above steps for each image in the web site images
folder:
15. In Photoshop go to File/Automate/Web Photo Gallery and try each of
the styles until you find the one you prefer. Choose that style in the Styles
window.
16. In the Source Images section set:
Use to "Folder" -
then Browse to your Website Images folder. This tells Photoshop where its
input is.
Destination to the My Website folder
17. Set Options to General, Extension to htm, and tick the 3 boxes
18. Set Options to Banner and type what you would like to see at the top
of your web site.
19. Set Options to Large Images and tick Resize images and all five boxes
after Titles Use
20. Click OK to accept the other defaults and start building your web
site.
When Photoshop finishes it will open your new web site in your web browser. You
can now check it to locate and fix any problem images. You now need to
upload it to your ISP's server. Click the link below for further
