Workshop
Camera Club is the only camera club in Perth, Western Australia with
an active, purpose-built darkroom. It is a facility available for use
only by active Club members for their personal photographic work. It
is not a rental darkroom and not a public darkroom. It is not
available for commercial use or paid work. Members using the Darkroom
are required to be financial members of Workshop camera Club and also
members of the Darkroom Special Interest Group within the Club. There
is no charge to be part of this group but members are encouraged to
actively participate in Club activities including attending meetings
and entering prints in the monthly competitions.
The
darkroom caters for Black and White film photography and can
accommodate the printing of 35mm and medium format negatives.
Experienced
members are available to answer questions and offer help for people
getting started. The specialist Darkroom Group within the Club is
very active and offers support for both new and experienced darkroom
photographers.
The
Club runs regular training sessions for members covering film
development and the making of contact sheets and silver gelatin
prints. When training is completed and subject to availability,
members can use the darkroom for their own work. Club members are
invited to enter the prints they create in the monthly Club
exhibitions.
Training
and use of the darkroom is included in the annual Club membership
fee. Members provide their own consumable materials and are strongly
encouraged to use fresh film and paper.
